20:33Howbeit the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
20:33And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of Gibeah.
20:33And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
20:33They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
20:33Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Thy brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
20:33And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.
20:33Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
20:33I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.
20:34Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
20:34And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
20:34So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
20:34And there came against Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was sore: but they knew not that evil was near them.
20:34So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
20:34Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.
20:34And Benhadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.
20:34Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.
20:35And the LORD smote Benjamin before Israel: and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjamites that day twenty and five thousand and an hundred men: all these drew the sword.
20:35And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
20:35And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly:
20:35And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.
20:35And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:
20:35But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
20:35I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
20:36And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.
20:36Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
20:36So the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten: for the men of Israel gave place to the Benjamites, because they trusted unto the liers in wait which they had set beside Gibeah.
20:36And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
20:36And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
20:36And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Eziongeber.
20:36Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
20:37And the liers in wait hasted, and rushed upon Gibeah; and the liers in wait drew themselves along, and smote all the city with the edge of the sword.
20:37And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
20:37As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
20:37Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
20:37Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.
20:37And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him,
20:37Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
20:38Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
20:38For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
20:38Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the liers in wait, that they should make a great flame with smoke rise up out of the city.
20:38For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
20:38And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
20:38So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.
20:39And when the men of Israel retired in the battle, Benjamin began to smite and kill of the men of Israel about thirty persons: for they said, Surely they are smitten down before us, as in the first battle.
20:39But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
20:39And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
20:39I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.
20:39Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
20:40And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.
20:40But when the flame began to arise up out of the city with a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and, behold, the flame of the city ascended up to heaven.
